Goletta dei Laghi 2018

On 27 July at ‘Le Sorgenti’ in Bolsena, Legambiente presented the results of the ‘Goletta dei Laghi’ 2018 for Lake Bolsena with results that are anything but reassuring: out of 6 sampling points, 5 are above the limits set by law for bathing water.
At the beginning of the summer season the mayors had proudly welcomed the judgment of “excellent” for the bathing waters, and they accused Legambiente of “terrorism and misinformation”. The environmental association calmly responded; “no terrorism, we only report the critical issues that we have been seeing for years”.
Are these two irreconcilable views of the quality of bathing water? Not so, given a composed and realistic analysis of the situation. The results of ARPA show us the lake as it is in certain places and at certain periods, and how it could (and should) be everywhere and always, while Legambiente highlights some of the critical aspects of the municipal sewage networks that are still present.
The solution? Common sense suggests dialogue and a serious commitment to solve the problems. This is proposed by Luigi Buzi, Mayor of Gradoli, inviting the representatives of the Goletta dei Laghi to collaborate to study problematic situations together and to define adequate and shared responses.
