Environment Days 2018 at the lake

June 5 is World Environment Day, the main objective of which is “to give a human face to environmental issues”, getting people and communities deeply involved in protecting their environment.

With this in mind, this year we, along with other local groups, committees and associations, are also promoting our own Environment Days: “Lake Bolsena, a lake to love”. We are convinced that development compatible with environmental protection is the key to the future of the lake, a guarantee for its survival and, at the same time, a great opportunity for the local economy.

Environment Days 2018 will address the main problems of the lake and propose solutions: the rehabilitation of its waters and its ecosystem, the promotion of organic farming in the area and the development of environmentally friendly tourism.

In line with the main theme of World Environment Day – “Beat Plastic Pollution” – we are dedicating a campaign to collect waste from the lake’s beaches.

Environment Days 2018: “Lake Bolsena, a lake to love” will see several events in various towns around the lake from 27 May to 17 June:

  • 27 May, 9.30 am, Bolsena, San Francesco Theatre: final event of the educational project “Knowing Lake Bolsena
  • 27 May, afternoon, Montefiascone lookout point: information stall at the arrival of the Via Francigena Marathon
  • 2 June, 10.00 am-2.00 pm, Capodimonte, Bella Verde: bio-market of small local producers
  • 2 June, 8.00 pm, Marta, Agriturismo Orto delle Fate: meeting for the bio-district project
  • 2/3 June, 10.00 am-8.00 pm, Marta lakefront: information stall, presentation of the bio-district project
  • 3 June, 9.00-11.00 am, Capodimonte and Marta: beach cleaning
  • 10 June, 9.00-11.00 am, Bolsena: beach cleaning
  • 10 June, 10.00 am-1.00 pm, Bolsena, Auditorium San Francesco: Convention Sor’Aqua, multo humile et pretiosa
  • 10 June, 3.00 pm-8.00 pm, Bolsena, lakefront: information stall, presentation of the bio-district project
  • 17 June, 9.00-11.00 am, Montefiascone and Marta: beach cleaning
