Piero Bruni hands over the reins

After many years as president of the Lake Bolsena association, Piero Bruni will hand over his office to Enrico Calvario. Mr Calvario, a biologist and expert ornithologist, is resident in Florence with Bolsena origins (see here his CV). Like Mr Bruni, Mr Calvario has been involved for many years in protecting the environment of our lake area, and knows it very well.

As a freelancer Enrico Calvario has collaborated with national environmental associations, nature reserves and parks, public bodies, universities and ministries. He is the author of numerous scientific and popular publications and, in his capacity as administrator of Lynx Natura e Ambiente, he wrote the Conservation Measures of the Natura 2000 Lake Bolsena area together with the DAFNE department of UNITUS (Department of Agricultural and Forestry Sciences at the University of Tuscia).

Piero Bruni (see here for his biography) passes the baton, transmitting what he wields – experience, scientific honesty, perseverance, fighting courage – to the youngest, so that they can continue to hold firm to these principles. It is these qualities that have made it possible to form an active citizenship – like few in Italy – around Lake Bolsena, a citizenship recognised by the European Union, which asked Mr Bruni to represent it at the ‘INSPIRE 2018’ conference in Antwerp.

The new president will be presented at the annual general meeting of the environmental associations of the lake, Saturday August 20 at 6.30 pm at the Caminetto in Montefiascone.
