Sewer system emergency

Is this a sign of things to come for the entire lake?

For a week the sewage waters of Gradoli poured into an olive grove, reaching the nearby Fosso del Rigo and the lake.
The various authorities who were alerted stated that they can do nothing. There is no one to intervene because, as we know, the COBALB workers have stopped, and have been without salary, material or resources for four months.

Of course it would not be fair for the Municipality of Gradoli to pay for the necessary repairs from its own pocket (and that of the tax payers) in place of the bankrupt COBALB and of the water company Talete (which collects the tax for sewage treatment but does not do the corresponding work). Gradoli has done so in the past – will they do it again? And will other municipalities follow their example?

We know the reason for what is happening: long years of widespread irresponsibility. But now? We cannot wait for a catastrophe to happen. Where are the leaders able to quickly find an effective interim solution? Which is not only to clear the shaft in the olive grove but to ensure the ordinary maintenance and proper functioning of the waste water collection system.
